What each one measures
Local Falcon is a geo-grid rank tracker. It queries Google from many simulated points laid out around your address and draws the result as a grid, so you can see your Maps position fall away street by street as the search point moves. That is a real, specific problem, it has a real, specific answer, and no AI answer tracker measures it.
MentionedOn is the other half. It asks assistants the questions your customers ask, records whether you were named, where you ranked in the list, whether you were cited with a link, and keeps the full answer text with the date it was captured. It does not know anything about your Maps position.
Where Local Falcon wins, plainly
- Google Maps grid rank. MentionedOn does not measure it at all, at any price.
- Agency workflow. Local Falcon is built around running many locations for many clients, with the reporting and seat structure that implies.
- White-label and reseller-branded reports. MentionedOn has none, on any plan, including Concierge. Reports carry MentionedOn branding.
- A visual a client instantly understands. A red-to-green grid over a map needs no explanation; a mention rate does.
Where the answer tracker wins
- The captured answer itself. Not a score, the words the assistant used about you on a date, with the links it cited.
- Four assistants on the same question set, so a change on one engine does not read as a change everywhere.
- A weekly owner's report written for someone who does not work in marketing, plus alerts when a confirmed drop happens.
- Publish-ready local articles aimed at the questions you are losing, which is the work the measurement implies.
The one question that decides it
Ask where your last ten jobs came from. If the honest answer is the map pack and the phone, buy the map grid first and treat AI answers as the thing you watch. If people are arriving already having asked an assistant, or your competitors are turning up in those answers and you are not, the map grid will never show you why. Plenty of businesses genuinely need both, and the two together cost less than most agency retainers.
One honest caution about comparisons like this one
Everybody in this category is shipping AI features fast, so a feature table is a snapshot, not a permanent truth. Before you buy either one, open the current pricing page and confirm the row you care about still says what it says here. The structural difference is the durable part: a grid tracker queries a search engine from coordinates, and an answer tracker queries a model with a question. That difference is not going away.
Side by side, by job to be done
Read down the first column and stop at the row that describes your actual problem. If your row is a Local Falcon row, buy Local Falcon.
| The job | Geo-grid rank tracker (Local Falcon) | AI answer tracker (MentionedOn) |
|---|---|---|
| See your Google Maps rank from points across your service area | Yes. This is the core product and the thing it is known for. | No. Not measured, not estimated, not on the roadmap you are buying today. |
| Know whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity name you | AI checks have been added to this category broadly; confirm the current plan on their pricing page. | Yes. Four assistants on your tracked question set, with the full answer text kept and dated. |
| See Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode for your questions | Confirm on their current pricing page. | Yes, on paid scans, on up to six of your highest-intent questions, with results cached up to seven days. |
| Send a client a report with your own agency's logo on it | Yes. Agency and reseller reporting is a first-class use case. | No. There is no white-label on any plan. Reports are forwardable but carry MentionedOn branding. |
| Build and sync directory listings, or manage reviews | No. It is a rank tracker, not a listings or reputation suite. | No. It reports what reviews and listings appear to be doing to your answers; it does not touch them for you. |
| Get told what to write next, with the article drafted | No. | Yes. A prioritized action list plus publish-ready local articles each month. |

AI visibility monitoring
The category name for the second column is AI visibility monitoring: a fixed question set, asked on a schedule, recording mention rate, citations, sentiment and competitor share of voice. It sits next to local rank tracking rather than replacing it.
- Does a good Maps rank mean assistants will name me?
- Not reliably. The two correlate because both reward a well-described, well-reviewed, consistently listed business, but plenty of businesses hold the map pack and are absent from AI answers, usually because nothing on the wider web describes what they do in words a model can retrieve.
- If I can only afford one, which comes first?
- Whichever matches where your customers are actually coming from today. For most established local trades that is still the map, and the AI answer layer is the thing you start watching before it becomes the map.
- Is there any overlap in what the two tools tell me?
- A little. Both will surface the same set of local competitors beating you, and both will point at your Business Profile as a fix. The evidence behind those conclusions is completely different.
