Claude AI visibility: become a useful source for buyer research

By the MentionedOn team

How to check business discovery, citations, and agent tasks on individual platforms.

For Claude visibility, focus on a buyer question that benefits from current web evidence. Publish a clear answer with verifiable details, then inspect the sources in actual web-assisted responses. A factual mention and a product recommendation should be measured separately.

What the platform documents

Anthropic describes Claude web search as a way to use current web information and provide direct citations. That supports checking cited sources; it does not disclose a universal formula for recommending vendors. Anthropic's web search announcement.

Build evidence a reader can inspect

Use a concrete workflow rather than a list of broad benefits. Show the inputs, the steps a user performs, the result, and the limitations. If a screenshot uses demonstration data, label it. If a benchmark uses synthetic examples, preserve the sample and method.

For a B2B service, state the project boundary and acceptance criteria. For a product, describe the supported formats and actions. A page that says what is not supported can help a buyer eliminate a poor fit before starting a trial.

Write comparisons around the actual decision

Compare products for one job and audience. Separate published capabilities from your own test results, and mark unknowns instead of filling gaps with guesses. Link to the current source for important compatibility claims.

Give each comparison a reason to exist: a deployment constraint, a required format, or a review requirement. Multiple pages that simply swap a competitor name provide little new information. Explain your commercial relationship so readers can assess the recommendation.

Run a web-assisted research check

Use an authorized Claude session with web search available. Record whether search was actually used, the visible mode, the exact question, and the cited URLs. If no search occurred, keep that answer in a separate group. Do not infer source retrieval solely because the answer sounds current.

Open the citations and check whether they support the specific statements. Count a source citation only when the link points to your page. Count a recommendation only when your business is recommended for the buyer's task, rather than merely named in a broader list.

Keep client and model evidence separate

Claude web, an API-based model check, and an agent using connected tools are different test surfaces. Preserve the surface and context in your log. A MentionedOn model observation should not be relabeled as a browser-agent completion.

Use the missing evidence to improve one relevant page, then repeat the same buyer questions. Measure referral activity and qualified actions where attribution is available. Do not label absent analytics records as zero if consent or referrer handling prevents measurement.

A repeatable starting prompt

Research [product or service category] for [buyer] with [specific constraints]. Compare documented capabilities and limitations, cite public sources, and distinguish verified facts from your interpretation.

Adapt the bracketed fields once, then keep the wording stable for comparable checks.

Does a Claude citation mean Claude endorses my product?

No. A citation identifies supporting material in that response. Check whether the answer actually recommends the product for the stated task, and keep endorsement claims out of your marketing unless separately established.

Record the evidence

Use the AI visibility audit worksheet to preserve the question, answer, sources, and next edit. See all platform guides for differences in the measurement method.
