Google AI Overviews
AI Overviews — Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google places at the top of many search results, answering the query directly and often naming a few businesses above the traditional links.
Formerly previewed as the Search Generative Experience (SGE), AI Overviews now appear on a large share of searches. They push the classic blue links down the page and hand a synthesized answer to the user first — frequently with a short list of named options.
For local businesses this is high-stakes: an Overview that names three competitors for 'best plumber near me' captures the click before your listing is even seen. Being in the sources Google's summary draws from is the way in.
