Structured Data (Schema.org)

Structured dataStructured data is machine-readable markup (usually Schema.org JSON-LD) added to your website that spells out facts about your business — name, category, location, hours, reviews — in a format search and AI systems can parse precisely.

Prose is ambiguous to a machine; structured data is not. Marking up your pages with LocalBusiness, Product, FAQ, or Review schema tells systems exactly what they're looking at, which improves how confidently they can represent you.

It won't manufacture authority you haven't earned, but it removes friction: it makes your facts extractable and reduces the chance a model guesses wrong. For local businesses, complete LocalBusiness and Review markup is a low-effort, high-leverage GEO basic.

Key points

  • Machine-readable facts, usually Schema.org JSON-LD.
