A low leader share means AI assistants spread their recommendations across many businesses instead of repeatedly naming one favorite. We ranked the five most open categories in MentionedOn’s live corpus of 17,390 answers and 1,739 local leaderboards.
Across 100 city leaderboards, the most-mentioned business captured only about 21% of category mentions on average. The remaining mentions were split among competitors, which makes this one of the least concentrated categories in the dataset.

Leader share measures how much of each market’s observed AI mentions went to its top business. Lower concentration suggests more room to enter the answer set, but it does not guarantee placement. Results vary by city, model, prompt, and refresh date. Business names are normalized from model output, not matched to an audited business registry.
